Aquamarine: Aquamarine is a type of beryl with a hardness of 7.5 to 8. Its name comes from the Latin (water of the sea) because of its sea water color. The deep blue version of aquamarine is called maxixe. Maxixe is commonly found in the country of Madagascar. Its color fades to white when exposed to sunlight or is subjected to heat treatment, though the color returns with irradiation. It has been used as a good luck talisman by sailors.
